Yehudah L. Werner

Yehudah L eopold Werner (* 1931 in Munich ) is an Israeli herpetologist and professor emeritus at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (Department of Evolution, Systematics and Ecology).

Life

He and his parents had to flee Nazi Germany to the British Mandate Palestine in 1935 . He became a student of Georg Haas (1905–1981), a herpetologist and paleontologist of Austrian origin who taught in Jerusalem. In his long scientific career Werner published over 400 papers, including a. about gecko biology as well as zoogeography and the protection of Middle Eastern reptiles and amphibians .
