Yext was founded in 2006 by Howard Lerman. After the company changed its strategy and in 2009 relied on the pay-per-call * business model to generate leads for companies . Yext generated sales of US $ 20 million in 2009 .

In August 2012 Howard Lerman sold his business model and CityGrid Media from IAC in order to focus on his newest product PowerListings , which synchronizes all customer information with the third-party platforms .
