The IAC / InterActiveCorp is an American internet company. In 1995 Barry Diller became Chairman and CEO of Silver King Communications Inc. , which later became the IAC. Silver King merged with Home Shopping Network and Savoy Pictures Entertainment and was subsequently renamed HSH Inc. In 2010, Diller, who came from the film and television industry and had headed the group alone for decades, moved to the supervisory board. Gregg Blatt became the new CEO of IAC.

In 1997 the company took over 50% of the Ticketmaster Group . In 1998 USA Networks, SCI FI and Universal domestic TV were added to the group. The company name was changed to USA Networks Inc (USAI). The group went public on the NASDAQ stock exchange in the same year . Also in 1998 Ticketmaster Online merged with Citysearch to form Ticketmaster Online Citysearch Inc (TMCS).

In 1999, the Hotel Reservations Network was taken over, later renamed Hotels.com. In the same year, TMCS took over the Match.com portal and Microsoft's city ​​maps .

In 2002 USAI bought the TV travel group Interval International . In 2003, Entertainment Publications Inc. followed with uDate.com, LendingTree, Hotwire, RealEstate.com, GetSmart and Expedia . The group of companies was given the name InterActiveCorp .

In 2004 excite , TripAdvisor Inc., ServiceMagic Inc. and Home Loan Center were acquired. AskJeeves Inc. and Cornerstone Brands Inc. followed in 2005.

In 2005 the online travel agencies (Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire, TripAdvisor and others) were spun off into the independent stock exchange company Expedia Inc. In 2007, the split of the company into five independent, listed companies was announced and completed in August 2008. The outsourced parts are the mortgage broker Tree.com with its LendingTree brand, the TV department store Home Shopping Network, the ticket seller Ticketmaster, and a timeshare exchange for vacation rentals and hotel rooms called Interval International (NASDAQ: IILG) .

Since the end of 2010, The Newsweek Daily Beast Company ( Newsweek , The Daily Beast ) was owned equally by Sidney Harman and the InterActiveCorp. After Harman's death, his heirs stopped financial participation. Newsweek was sold to IBT Media in July 2013 .

On July 14, 2015, the matchmaking service PlentyOfFish was acquired for $ 575 million in cash to become part of the Match Group.

On October 10, 2016, IAC's HomeAdvisor announced the acquisition of MyHammer, a marketplace for home services in Germany.

On December 30, 2016, IAC completed the sale of ShoeBuy to Jet.

On February 9, 2017, IAC HomeAdvisor announced the acquisition of the Canadian home services platform HomeStars.

On March 27, 2017, IAC's HomeAdvisor announced the acquisition of MyBuilder, a UK home service marketplace.

On May 1, 2017, the IAC announced that it had reached a definitive agreement with Angie's List to merge IAC HomeAdvisor and Angie's List into a new publicly traded company called ANGI Homeservices Inc.

In March 2018, IAC announced the acquisition of iTranslate, the makers of the iTranslate app.

In October 2018, IAC announced the sale of Electus to Propagate Content.

In November 2018, IAC announced the acquisition of TelTech, the developers of the RoboKiller, TapeACall and TrapCall mobile apps.
