Yitzchak Chofi
Jitzchak Chofi ( Hebrew יצחק חופי , sometimes as Yitzhak Hofi ; born January 25, 1927 in Tel Aviv ; † September 15, 2014 in Ramat Gan ) was director of the Israeli secret service Mossad from 1974 to 1982 .
Life
In 1944 Chofi joined the Hagana and commanded a company during the 1948 War of Independence . He then held various command positions in the Israeli armed forces , including at the head of the Dow Tamari intelligence unit . In the 1973 Yom Kippur War he was the commander of the Northern Command . Shortly before he took office for the Mossad, Chofi was briefly the Israeli Chief of Staff in 1974.
Operation Entebbe , which was not carried out by the Mossad itself but was supported, fell under his leadership .
