Jizchak Orpas

Jizchak Orpas (born October 15, 1923 in Sinkow , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ; Hebrew יצחק אוורבוך אורפז; † August 14, 2015 ) was an Israeli writer.

Life

In 1938 he emigrated to Palestine , where he served as a soldier during World War II . He then worked as a diamond cutter, teacher and editor and wrote novels, short stories, essays and short stories. One of his most famous works is the novella of Nemalin (Hebrew ants), which appeared in 1968.

In 2005 Orpas was awarded the Israel Prize for Literature.
