Yoga Austria - BYO is a professional association of yoga teachers in Austria based in Vienna - Neubau .

Yoga Austria - BYO was founded as a non-profit association in 1991 based on the model of the Professional Association of Yoga Teachers in Germany (BDY) . It is an association of yoga teachers and those interested in yoga on an ideal basis. As a non-profit association, it is politically and denominationally independent and neutral. The registered office is in Vienna. Yoga Austria - BYO is a member of the European Yoga Union (EYU).

membership

There are different forms of membership

  • Member of the "BYO / EYU" yoga teacher: the prerequisite is a minimum of four years of training in accordance with the guidelines of the European Yoga Union (EYU) with at least 680 teaching units (45 minutes each)
  • Members in training: these are people who are currently completing training recognized by the EYU according to the criteria of the European Yoga Union (EYU).

Quality standards

The guidelines of Yoga Austria-BYO are based on western standards for training:

  • wien-cert: The association has passed the "wien-cert" certification process and thus fulfills the quality framework for adult education in Austria.
  • Recognized educational institution of the Vienna Employees' Advancement Fund (waff). According to the criteria of the "waff", participation in the further education and training offers of Yoga Austria-BYO can be promoted in certain cases.
  • Cooperation partner of the social insurance institute for the commercial economy (SVA) in the area of ​​relaxation and body work.

Study: Pranayama

In collaboration with Yoga Austria-BYO and the “Physics of Physiological Processes” working group at the University of Vienna , Marvin Kovacs carried out a study on the effectiveness of “Pranayama”, breathing exercises: “Evaluation of the Pranayama Study 2008.” Vienna 2008.

European Yoga Union (EYU)

A number of European yoga associations came together in 1971 to form the European Yoga Union (EYU) in order to promote international exchange and to develop binding quality standards for yoga training. The quality standards are regularly ratified for well-founded training and responsible yoga lessons. Yoga associations from 17 countries are currently working together on the international quality criteria for training and further education.
