A yoga teacher teaches yoga . The lessons are given either in courses, regularly held groups, as multi-day or multi-week seminars or as individual lessons. In India , the motherland of yoga, ashrams are usually taught by a teacher .

Yoga teacher is not a protected professional title , so that people who have completed a yoga teacher training, have been trained by Indian gurus and are in their tradition or became self-taught yoga teachers, work.

There are different yoga teacher training courses, which differ significantly in type and scope. The statutory health insurance companies have developed guidelines for recognition in order to guarantee a minimum of quality of the courses they support: Accordingly, the training must last at least 2 years and, in addition to technical content, also include medical basics such as anatomy , physiology , psychosomatics and breathing .
