Sirjan ( Persian سیرجان; Sīrjān ) is a city in the southern Iranian province of Kerman .
Geographical location
The city is located in the high mountains at 1742 m and therefore has a mild climate in contrast to many other Iranian cities.
Economy and Transport
The Sirjan region has traditionally been an important center for the cultivation of pistachios . Due to its location, the city is a logistical hub for the distribution and processing of goods from the port cities on the southern coast of Iran (especially Bandar Abbas ). A duty-free special economic zone established in 1993 in Sirjan is intended to further promote this development. The town lies on the North-South Railway Iran, the eastern north-south railway line in the country, from Mashhad to Bandar Abbas.
