Yoker was a whiskey distillery in Glasgow , Scotland .
history
The distillery was founded by John Harvey in 1770 and remained in the family until 1906. In the following years the company belonged to various consortia and groups, until Distillers Company Ltd. ( DCL ) became sole owner in 1925. In 1927 the company was finally closed. The buildings were badly damaged in an attack by the Luftwaffe ( Clydebank Blitz ) in March 1941. The warehouses were used until the 1970s, but have since been demolished. The Yoker distillery mainly produced grain whiskey , but could also produce malt whiskey using a Stein Still .
When Alfred Barnard visited the distillery as part of his major whiskey tour in 1885, it had an annual production capacity of more than 600,000 gallons , making it one of the largest distilleries in Scotland. Two coffey stills were available for the production of grain whiskey and one stone still for malt whiskey.
