The Yokohama Landmark Tower is a skyscraper in Yokohama .
The 295.8 meter high, 70-story skyscraper was built in 1993 in the Minato Mirai 21 port district of Yokohama and was the tallest building in Japan for several years . In 2013 the Landmark Tower was replaced by the four-meter-higher Abeno Harukas in Osaka . On the lower floors of the building there is a shopping center, the Landmark Plaza with 160 different shops, the reception of the Royal Park Hotel, offices up to the 48th floor and the “Royal Park Hotel” from the 49th to the 70th floor. On floor 69 there is a viewing platform, the so-called Sky Garden , which was the highest viewing platform in Japan until the Tokyo Skytree was completed in May 2012. This can be reached with an express elevator directly from the ground floor. At the time of completion, this was the fastest elevator in the world and at 750 m / min it is still Japan's fastest. The elevator has rounded outer edges, which allows it to reach this high speed. On nice days, the panoramic view from the Sky Garden extends up to 80 km, which enables you to see sights such as Mount Fuji , Tokyo Tower and the Tokyo Prefecture Administration.
