Yolandi Visser

Yolandi Visser (alternative spelling ¥ o-Landi Vi $$ er ; born March 3, 1984 as Anri du Toit in Port Alfred , South Africa ) is a South African musician and actress . International reputation it gained as part of Watkin Tudor Jones ' rap - Rave - Formation Die Antwoord .

In the early years of her musical career, she was also known under the pseudonym Anica The Snuffling .

Career

Musical career

From 2002, Yolandi Visser was part of Watkin Tudor Jones' hip-hop formation The Constructus Corporation , which released the concept album The Ziggurat in June of the same year , which included an 88-page graphic novel . The formation broke up again in 2003. In 2005 she and Jones re-founded his former formation Max Normal as MaxNormal.TV , which existed until 2008. The international breakthrough came with Die Antwoord , which was also founded with Jones in 2008 and writes its lyrics in Afrikaans and English . Both appear in her as a singer and rapper, she under the name Yo-Landi Vi $$ er , Jones as a ninja . After the release of the fifth album The House of Zef (2019), this is to be dissolved, as planned when the group was founded. Jones and Visser's further plans are not known.

Cinematic career

In 2014 she shot the science fiction film Chappie with South African director Neill Blomkamp , in which Watkin Tudor Jones also stars.

Private

Visser lives in a relationship with her artistic companion Watkin Tudor Jones , with whom she has a daughter named Sixteen Jones, who was born in 2006. However, they do not describe themselves as living in a relationship, Jones once described their relationship as an "ultimate best-friends-forever type of thing" (for example: ultimate best friends forever). In 2010, the couple adopted a then nine-year-old street boy known as Tokkie.
