The language Yom (ISO 639-3: pil) is a Gur- Oti-Volta language and thus also a representative of the Niger-Congo language family ; besides the Nawdm [nmz] it is one of the two languages from the subgroup of the Yom-Nawdm languages.
The Yom is spoken by a total of 74,000 people in the Benin province of Atakora around the city of Djougou . The language is also known by the names kpilakpila , pila, and pilapila , which is the name given to the ethnic group who speak this language. But also some Temba and Yoba speak the language.
