Yoshiharu Makishi

Yoshiharu Makishi ( Japanese 真 喜 志 慶 治 , Makishi Yoshiharu ; born November 13, 1973 ) is a former Japanese judoka . In 1997 he was second in the open class of the World Championship.

Makishi won a bronze heavyweight medal at the 1992 Junior World Championships in Buenos Aires. In 1994 he won the Goodwill Games in the heavyweight division and the Jigoro Kano Cup in the open class. At the 1995 Universiade in Fukuoka, he won the heavyweight competition. At the end of 1996 he won the heavyweight division at the Jigoro Kano Cup. At the Japanese Heavyweight Championships in 1997 he was defeated in the final Shinichi Shinohara . Both took part in the 1997 World Championships in Paris six months later , Shinohara in the heavyweight division and Makishi in the open class. Makishi defeated the Belgian Harry Van Barneveld in the quarter-finals and the Chinese Pan Song in the semi-finals . In the final he was defeated by the Poles Rafał Kubacki . A month later, Makishi lost to the Chinese Pan Song in the open class finals at the South Asian Games.
