Yossi Gal (* 1950 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli diplomat and was ambassador to France from December 2010 to 2015 .

Life

Gal was born in Jerusalem in 1950. His parents had emigrated from Morocco to the newly founded state of Israel in 1948 . Gal studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . In 1975 he joined the diplomatic service of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. During his diplomatic career, Gal held various posts. Among other things, he acted as spokesman for the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC and was the Israeli ambassador to the Netherlands . Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked as Deputy Director General for Economic Relations, then as Director General. From his post as General Director for Economic Relations, Gal moved to the Israeli embassy in Paris in 2010 , where he replaced Daniel Schek as ambassador. He held this office until 2015.
