Yuan Hong

Yuan Hong ( Chinese  袁宏 , W.-G. Yüan Hung ), court name Yanbo (* 328 in Zhoukou ; † 376 ), was a scholar, historian and politician of the Eastern Jin Dynasty . He came from Zhoukou in what is now Henan Province and served as an advisor to Generals Xie Shang and Huan Wen on some campaigns. His historical work, in particular his notes of the Later Han , served the historian Fan Ye as the source for his book The Later Han. Yuan Hong's historical work consisted of 30 volumes and has not survived to us. However, about twenty poems and essays have survived under his name.
