Yukari Ishimoto
Yukari Ishimoto ( Japanese石 本 由香 利, born 1962 in Tokyo , Japan ) is a Japanese conductor and has been the artistic director of the Berliner Musikfreunde Orchestra since 2003 .
life and work
Ishimoto grew up in Tokyo and received her first piano lessons at the age of four. From 1980 to 1986 she studied conducting with Seiichi Mitsuishi at the Tokyo College of Music , where she temporarily took on a teaching position after graduating with the grade “very good”.
From 1987 to 1991 she completed postgraduate studies with Hans-Martin Rabenstein at the Berlin University of the Arts . Ishimoto gained orchestral experience with the Halleschen Philharmonie , the Vogtland Philharmonie , the Philharmonic Orchestra Frankfurt an der Oder and the Ensemble Sanssouci of the Brandenburg Philharmonic Potsdam.
Since 1991 she has directed the Berliner Stadtstreicher and since 1999 the Telemann Orchestra . The following year she founded the Nagomi Singing Ensemble , a female chamber choir made up of Japanese women. At the beginning of 2003 Yukari Ishimoto became artistic director of the Orchester Berliner Musikfreunde eV. Since 2013 she has also been the artistic director of the BVG Orchestra Berlin.
Repertoire focus
Ishimoto has a wide concert repertoire from the baroque to the modern and has a particular preference for the symphonies of the late romantic period . She gained experience in the field of Asian and Japanese music. Your interest in new music is pronounced.
Competitions and Awards
In 1991 she took part in the third round of the International Conduction Competition in Tokyo. In 1992 she reached the semi-finals at the international conducting competition in Cadaqués / Spain . In 1993 she took part in the round of the Conduction Competition in Besançon / France .
