Yukta Inderlal Mookhey (also Yukta Mukhi ; born October 7, 1979 in Mumbai , Maharashtra ) is an Indian model and won the Miss World title in 1999 .

biography

Mookhey's family comes from northern India but lived in the middle east of the subcontinent until Yukta was seven years old. The family moved back to Mumbai in the summer of 1986 . Yukta Mookhey studied zoology at Kelkar College. She is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a nationalist party in India.

She has been married to Prince Tuli since November 2, 2008. This marriage has since been divorced. The wedding was held in the form of a traditional Sikh ceremony.

Miss World

In 1999 Mookhey was elected Miss India World and was therefore able to participate in the Miss World election. The election for the 49th Miss World took place on December 4, 1999 at the Olympia in London . The hosts were Ulrika Jonsson and Melanie Sykes. 94 people from all over the world took part. Yukta Mookhey prevailed against Miss Venezuela Martina Thorogood Heemsen and Miss South Africa Sonia Raciti in the final and became the fourth Miss World from India .
