Yulduz Usmonova (also Usmanova ; Russian Юлдуз Урайимохуновна Усманова Juldus Urajimochunovna Usmanova , born December 12, 1963 in Margilan , Uzbek SSR ) is an Uzbek singer who is popular in her home country as well as in several other Central Asian countries .

Usmanova sings in several Central Asian languages, including Uzbek and Russian, and has had to go into exile in Europe several times because of political disputes with Uzbek President Islom Karimov . She is " People's Artist of Uzbekistan " ( Uzbek O'zbekiston xalq artisti ) and Honored Artist of Tajikistan ( Tajik Ҳунарпешаи шоистаи Тоҷикистон ).

Her ethnopop song “A Speech to Allah” is about the unrest in southern Kyrgyzstan in 2010 and was written in Istanbul in the summer of 2010 . In the song she blames the Kyrgyz people for what happened back then. This provoked some violent reactions. The Kyrgyz Culture Minister spoke out against the content. Several radio stations and Kyrgyz shops boycotted the CD, and fellow musicians criticized the singer. The destruction of the CDs could be seen on Kyrgyz television, and Kyrgyz Akynes wrote mocking songs.
