Masuo Fuguno, 24, has never had a girlfriend in his life. A fortune teller prophesied that he would never have one, let alone get married. Lonely and depressed, he runs through the rain. It's been a bad day for him so far, and he's falling and all his papers are scattered on the street. The young Nagisa Shiozaki hands him her umbrella and a handkerchief. Masuo decides to win the heart of the beautiful Nagisa, despite his shy and awkward nature.

The manga was published by Noriyuki Yamahana under the stage name Hanako as a sequel story in the Shueisha publisher's Business Jump magazine . The chapters also appeared in 17 edited volumes.
Animes
Yume de Aetara in 1998 as a three-part OVA and as a television series, both at Studio JCStaff . The OVA was directed by Hiroshi Watanabe, the character design was created by Hiroshi Watanabe and Ryōchi Ōki. The artistic direction was taken over by Yoshinori Hirose. After the video release, the three 30-minute episodes were also televised on TBS . The OVA has been translated into English and Spanish.
JCStaff also produced a series of 16 eight-minute episodes in 1998, directed by Takeshi Yamaguchi. From November 30th to December 24th, 1998, TBS aired the series in Japan. Spanish, Portuguese and English translations followed.

The music of the OVA was composed by Shigesato Kanezumi, Mami Kingetsu sang the opening and closing credits Ai suru koto o oshiete and Dear . The music of the series comes from Moka, the credits were underlaid with the song Kaze no you na kimi de ite by HaLo.
