Yvan "LOZZI" Pestalozzi (born December 13, 1937 in Glarus ) is a Swiss iron sculptor.

The trained cabinet maker has been working as a freelance sculptor since 1964. He grew up in French (mother) and German-Swiss (father) cultures. After completing his apprenticeship, he trained himself further. His iron sculptures are mostly made of wire and contain many playful elements. Movement and surprise are always part of the work of art. Under the guiding principle Think like a mature person - be happy like a child , hundreds of works have been created, from filigree, hand-sized to several tons. He turns many of his often kinetic objects into puns. That is why he has already been called a cabaret artist among the Swiss sculptors. In contrast to many other well-known Swiss iron sculptors, Lozzi does not work with scrap . Other areas of work include his small figures made of soft metal or life-size human and animal figures made of cement, such as the guardian angel on Gotthardstrasse in Hospental .

Art in public space

The kinetic objects and other works by Lozzi are in public places, for example at Zurich Airport . Further examples of art in public space are the time machine (1983, UBS, Zurich-Altstetten) and the swarm of mosquitoes (2002, Dübendorf). There are over 80 wind sculptures in Switzerland, Europe, the USA and the Far East, such as the Windspiel from 1991 on the pier in Küsnacht ZH or the Windspiel Kanton Zurich from 1998 in Bülach Nord. Lozzi has also designed works of art for Kreisel, such as the Life Companion and Tree of Life projects in Dübendorf .
