Yves Legrand

Yves Legrand (born February 4, 1935 in Rennes ) is a former French football player .

Career

The 173 centimeter tall striker Legrand began playing football with the Tour d'Auvergne club in his hometown of Rennes. His striking talent helped him move to the Stade Rennes UC , where he made the leap to the professional team in 1954. For this, the then 19-year-old ran for the first time in the second division on September 12, 1954 in a 3: 4 against FC Perpignan . This was only followed by sporadic missions before his versatility, thanks to which he could be used in all positions in attack, helped him to his breakthrough at the beginning of the 1955/56 season. From then on, he played alongside Jean Grumellon and José Caeiro and showed his scoring qualities in the season when he contributed eleven goals to the promotion achieved in 1956. After that, he was no longer used as regularly as before, he did not get past three goals and in 1957 also had to accept direct relegation.

Following the fall in the second division, he was loaned to the first division club SCO Angers in 1957 . At Angers he played a minor role and only made eight appearances in a year, but was able to score at least four goals. In 1958 he did not return to Rennes, but signed with the second division FC Rouen . There he was one of the regular players and in 1959/60 scored the best goal yield of his career with twelve goals, which went hand in hand with the rise of his team. In the top division his team surprised as fourth in the table, but he lost his permanent place in the first team, which is why he was awarded in 1961 to the also first-class FC Nancy . With this he again reached fourth place in the table, but could not prevail there either, so he returned to Rouen in 1962. At Rouen he occupied a regular place for a year before he was no longer on the pitch during the 1963/64 season. At the end of the game he stopped playing football at the age of 29 after 85 first division games with 17 goals and 94 second division games with 30 goals.
