Yves Maitre

Yves Maitre (born May 19, 1917 in Pruntrut , † May 13, 1966 in Chens-sur-Léman (Haute-Savoie), resident in Epauvillers ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician of the CVP .

Life

Yves Maitre studied law in Bern and graduated from the flight officer and military pilot school in 1939. From 1939 he was a military judge, from 1944 a lawyer in Geneva and an auditor at the military court.

From 1954 he was president of the independent Christian-Social Party of Geneva, from 1951 to 1966 Grand Council and from 1963 to 1966 National Council. At the same time he was President of the Association of the Swiss Aviation Industry. He was the initiator of the Geneva Administrative Court and represented the alternative civil service for conscientious objectors.

His son Jean-Philippe Maitre and his grandson Vincent Maitre followed him politically and also became national councilors of the CVP.
