Vincent Maitre (born January 12, 1981 in Geneva ) is a Swiss politician and has been a member of the National Council for the CVP since 2019 .

Life

Vincent Maitre's family originally came from the Jura from the municipality of Epauvillers . His grandfather Yves Maître (1917–1966) was a lawyer and from 1963 until his death in 1966 a member of the National Council for the CVP. His father Jean-Philippe Maitre (1946–2006) had been a member of the Geneva Grand Council for 12 years from 1973, the Geneva State Council and from 1983 until his death in 2006, National Councilor for the CVP. His wife Christine Maitre, b. Mégevand was Mayor of Collonge-Bellerive from 2005 to 2006.

He is a partner in the law firm Janin Waeber Maitre.

Vincent Maitre was a member of Geneva City Council from 2007 to 2009 and of the Geneva Grand Council from 2009 to 2019. Since 2018 he has been President of the Christian Democratic Party of Geneva (PDC GE / CVP GE), his predecessor was Bertrand Buchs. Since December 2, 2019, he has been the elected National Councilor for the Canton of Geneva and as such a member of the Commission for Legal Affairs.
