Nicolas Walder

Nicolas Walder (born May 2, 1966 in Geneva ; entitled to residency there) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

Life

Nicolas Walder graduated from the Lausanne hotel school and then studied sociology at the University of Geneva . Before being elected to the city government of Carouge , he worked for several years at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) .

politics

Nicolas Walder joined the Greens in 2001 and was elected to the municipal council (legislature) of the city of Carouge in 2007. In 2011 he was elected to the city government (Conseil administratif) of Carouge. He has been President of the Greens in the Canton of Geneva since 2016 .

In the national parliamentary elections on October 20, 2019 , Nicolas Walder was elected to the National Council for the Greens . He is a member of the Foreign Affairs Commission and the Legal Affairs Commission as well as a deputy in the delegation in the EFTA Parliamentary Committee and in the delegation to the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly.

Nicolas Walder has been President of the City Association of the Canton of Geneva since 2015 and since 2017 he has been President of the public law Fondation des Terrains Industriels (FTI) of the Canton of Geneva as well as a board member of Pro Senectute Geneva.
