Stéfanie Prezioso Batou or Stefania Prezioso Batou (born January 25, 1969 in La Chaux-de-Fonds ) is a historian , professor and Swiss politician ( solidaritéS ). She has been a national councilor since December 2, 2019 .

education

Stéfanie Prezioso graduated from high school in Lausanne and studied at the University of Florence from 1992–1993 . In 1994 she graduated from the University of Lausanne . She obtained her doctorate in 2002 with the thesis "Repenser la nation italienne: de la tranchée à l'antifascisme. Fernando Schiavetti ou l'itinéraire d'un enfant de 1914". In 2003 she received the Faculté des Lettres Prize of the University of Lausanne. Prezioso received a research grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and worked from 2003 to 2007 in France and Italy on "Analysis comparative des expériences de guerre des engagés volontaires français et italiens dans la première moitié du xxe siècle."

Since 2010 she has been Associate Professor at the University of Lausanne, where she teaches international contemporary history.

Political activity

Stéfanie Prezioso has been a member of the radical left movement "SolidaritéS" since 2003. She was elected to the Geneva City Council, the Parliament of the City of Geneva , in September 2014 . She stayed there for ten months.

In 2019 she ran for the National Council on the "Ensemble à gauche - Solidarité - DAL" list , but was not elected. The elected Jocelyne Haller from "Ensemble à gauche" was chosen, but renounced. Likewise the following Jean Burgermeister. The following Stéfanie Prezioso accepted the election and since then politicized in the group of the Greens .

Private life

Stéfanie Prezioso is a daughter of Italian immigrants and grew up in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In the 1980s the family moved to Yverdon. The parents ran a business there. She is married.
