Yvonne Meyer

Yvonne Meyer (* in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian ballet dancer and dance teacher.

Meyer was a student of Tatiana Leskova , Vaslav Veltchek and Igor Schwezoff . She began her career with the youth ballet of Rio de Janeiro and then was engaged at the Theatro Municipal , where she quickly rose to become principal dancer. In 1954 she became a member of the Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas in Paris , where she performed with partners such as Serge Golovine , George Zoritch and George Skibine .

After 1958 it belonged u. a. the companies of Miroslav Miskowitch and Janine Charrat , the Edinburgh Festival Ballet , Léonide Massines Ballet Europeo de Nervi , Ruth Pages Chicago Opera Ballet and Walter Gores London Ballet . She worked with choreographers Léonide Massine, David Lichine , Bronislawa Nijinska , Alan Carter , Maurice Béjart , John Taras and Serge Lifar , among others . Among other things, she danced leading roles in Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev in the choreography of Skibine and Der Ritter und die Dame by Philippe Gaubert under Lifar.

Meyer taught a. a. at the Conservatoire de Levalois-Perret , the Center de danse de Paris and the Studio Manasse and gave courses at the Opera and the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro. She is the director of the Académie de Danse Montparnasse .
