ZTE Blade , also known as Orange San Francisco , is a smartphone from the Chinese wireless technology manufacturer ZTE . It was launched in 2010 and uses Android as the operating system. More than 8 million units had been delivered by the end of 2011, making it ZTE's second most successful smartphone after the “ Skate ” model .
distribution
The device was developed for the French mobile operator Orange and will be available in the United Kingdom as a prepaid mobile phone for £ 99 in autumn 2010. The ZTE Blade was originally delivered with the Android 2.1 operating system, which Orange expanded to include its own design and applications. The ZTE Blade is now also available in other countries. Due to the low availability of OLED displays, these were replaced by an LC display from the beginning of 2011. There are also deviations in the nature of the housing and the camera resolution in the models of different mobile network operators.
The ZTE Blade has 512 MB ROM and 512 MB RAM in all versions. The storage space of the ROM is divided into two partitions with 256 MB each. The first contains the Android operating system, the second partition can be used for installing applications (apps). Due to the factory pre-installed application programs, only about 164 MB is available for the individual installation of apps. The installation of apps on the SD card (Apps2SD) is not supported in the version with Android 2.1 installed.
variants
The German mobile operator E-Plus offered a modified version of the ZTE Blade on the German market under the name Base Lutea . Unlike the original original, it did not have a high-quality OLED display, but a standard LC display with less color depth ( high color ). The camera had a higher resolution of 5 megapixels than that of the original Blade with 3.2 megapixels.
ZTE Blade (1st generation) and Base Lutea in comparison
The comparison is based on the first generation of the ZTE Blade. Orange has meanwhile switched to conventional LC displays.
