Zacharias Nordmark

Zacharias Nordmark (also Sakarias ; born October 29, 1751 in Luleå , † June 26, 1828 in Uppsala ) was a physicist and astronomer .

He studied at Uppsala University , where he completed his doctoral thesis in astronomy in 1776, before he also worked in Uppsala as an adjunct for astronomy.

In 1783 he became professor for experimental physics at the University of Greifswald and in 1787 in Uppsala. In 1790 and from 1799 to 1807 he was rector of Uppsala University. He met Bernouilli and Lagrange and theoretically examined the balance of swimming bodies. He conducted hydraulic experiments in the water arts of the Falun mines .
