Zahir Tanin
Zahir Tanin ( Persian ظاهر طنين; * May 1, 1956 ) is an Afghan diplomat. Since October 2015, he has been Farid Zarif's successor as Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG ) in Kosovo and head of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
Previously, he was Permanent Representative of the United Nations in Afghanistan from December 2006 to October 5, 2015 . From September 2008 to September 2009 he was also Vice President of the General Assembly of the United Nations for one year .
Tanin graduated from Kabul Medical University in 1980 .
He is married and has two children.
