Fejervarya keralensis from 2011 to August 2015 Zakerana keralensis

A group of frogs from the family Dicroglossidae , whose representatives are native to South Asia , was called the Zakerana . However, their systematic position was controversial and therefore the genus Zakerana was again synonymous in 2015 with the genus Fejervarya , from which it had been separated in 2011 .

description

The Zakerana species are a group of small frogs with a not very pointed or slightly rounded snout. The tympanum is relatively narrow. The inner metatarsal tubercles are small, rounded or somewhat elongated and compressed laterally. There are only rudimentary webbed feet on the feet . The tibiae are small.

Occurrence

The genus occurs in South Asia in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Systematics

Zakerana was first described in 2011 by Mohammad Sajid Ali Howlader as a genus of its own. It comprised 20 species, which were previously placed in the genus Fejervarya . The genus was named after Kazi Zaker Husain (1933-2011).
