The sixth album by German songwriter Reinhard Mey was just like the year and day ago and was released in 1974. The album contains the probably best-known song by Reinhard Mey, Über den Wolken . In the same year Mey went on tour. A concert recording from the Philharmonie Berlin appeared in the same year as a live album 20:00 . It contains the songs from the album as it was year and day ago in a live version (except for But you can no longer find your peace after all ).

In the following year 1975 Intercord released songs from this album in Dutch for the Dutch market on the album Als de dag van toen .

Mey wrote all the songs himself, with the exception of Susann . This song was originally written by the Swiss songwriter Toni Vescoli , with whom Mey also produced TV programs. For the album Wie Jahr und Tag , Mey translated the original Swiss German text into standard German.

Trivia

In spite of all this , Mey sang the song But you can no longer find your rest any more in 1973 for the ARD television lottery .

Due to the agricultural pesticide use of DDT in the 1950s and 1960s, cockchafer were very rare in the first half of the 1970s. Mey processed this in his song There are no cockchafer anymore , with which he sang a kind of requiem in this kind of beetle (with The Old Bear is Dead and His Cage Empty, the second song of this kind on the album). The song title went into colloquial language . Der Spiegel reported several times, referring to this song, that there are now poison-resistant strains of cockchafer. Reinhard Meys Musikverlag is based on Maikäfer Musik Verlagsgesellschaft . In 1994 Mey took up the subject again with the song Maikäfer flliege .
