Ich bin aus dem Holz is the fourth German studio album by German songwriter Reinhard Mey and was released by Intercord in 1971 .

content

The album begins with a parody of the spy and agent films popular in the early 1970s: The Secret in the Yeast Dough or The Shot in the Oven .

Another parody is the now eloquent song The murderer is always the gardener , which satirizes the predictability in crime films of who the perpetrator is. It parodies the Agatha Christie and Edgar Wallace films that were popular in the 1960s . Additional verses were later written for this song, as can be heard on the live album at 8:00 p.m.

The song Cantus 19b uses a nonsense text to make fun of certain modern lines of poetry that put quantity over quality.

As usual, love songs can be found on the album with The stores have long been closed , I think that's how she is and the cheering song She has come back to me . The song I carry the dust off your streets or Berlin is like a declaration of love to Berlin .

In song 71 1/2 the poet makes an account of the New Year's resolutions.

Finally there are a few more contemplative songs on the album: I am carved out of that wood , The erring fool and soap bubbles .

The song Masquerade takes a critical look at repression by describing invalids at a carnival parade.
