Zaniah (from Arabic الزاوية, DMG az-zāwiya 'corner') is the proper name of the fixed star Eta Virginis (short: η Vir) in the constellation Virgo . Zaniah is about 250 light years away ( Hipparcos database), has an apparent magnitude of +3.89 mag and belongs to the spectral type A2.
As a star near the ecliptic, Zaniah can be covered by the moon and (very rarely!) By planets. The last occultation of Zaniah by a planet was on September 27, 1843 by Venus, the next one will be again on November 19, 2445 by Venus.
