Architecture and history

Hans Dietrich von Zanthier was appointed head forest and hunter master in 1748. His office became the Waldhof, today's Zanthierhaus. From here, 16,000 hectares of forest were managed. Zanthier set up a private forest school. After Zanthier's death in 1778, this educational establishment was closed again. Until 1930 the Zanthierhaus continued to be operated as a forestry office or chief forester.

The Zanthierhaus was then owned by the Ilsenburg housing company, which, however, sold it to private customers around 2013. A Zanthier association, which existed until 2013 and had set itself the task of maintaining the building, then dissolved. The renovated house is used as a private residence.

In the local register of monuments , the Forsthof is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 03413 .
