Dark Chocolate (Association)
Zartbitter is the name of two active registered associations in Münster and Cologne, which see themselves as contact and information points for people who are or were affected by sexual abuse as children or adolescents . Two other clubs with this name have existed earlier.
history
The first association with this name was founded in Münster in 1986. In 1987 a club in Cologne followed. Both are still active today, but say they are independent in terms of personnel and finances and work with different concepts. From 1987 to 2008 there was still an association of the same name or an advice center in Coesfeld. Furthermore, an association existed in Lauterbach from 2001 to 2004. The tasks are similar to the “Wildwasser” associations , the first of which was founded in 1983 in Berlin. However, those relate their work to the fight against sexual abuse of girls.
Associations and main areas of work
The common focus of the work is advice and prevention against any form of violence that violates sexual self-determination - for affected girls and boys. The consequences of this violence can extend into adulthood. The word dark chocolate, known as the flavor of chocolate , was chosen in the 1980s in voluntary social work to designate meeting places (e.g. cafés) for people who go to the streets or girls and boys at risk of prostitution without deterring them. In this specific case, the name dark chocolate arose after the statement of a woman about her experience with sexual violence in childhood: "I was tender - it was bitter."
Muenster
The dark chocolate counseling center in Münster was set up in 1986 as the first club to bear this name. For the first time in Germany, men affected by sexual violence in childhood or adolescence were given advice. We do not work with children, female and male adolescents must be at least 14 years old - with or without impairments or disabilities. The focus is on advice to those affected, group offers and prevention . The association is a member of the German Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband and the DGfPI . The association is financed through a fixed budget of the city of Münster, donations, sponsoring, fines, membership fees and chargeable offers (for adults over 21).
Cologne
In 1987 Zartbitter Köln eV was founded. Ursula Enders is co-founder and director of the association in Cologne . The main areas of work include a. specified: crisis intervention and advice, protection against abuse in institutions, protection against cyber bullying and sexual violence in the new media, creation of prevention materials and information materials for everyone who lives and works with children, prevention plays and workshops. Less than 50% of the association is publicly funded. A large part of the work can only be done with the support of donations and sponsorship money.
In June 2011, the prevention play “click it2!” Was awarded the klicksafe prize for security on the Internet. In 2011, the “Fair is cool!” Workshops won the “Paths to the Net” competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
Coesfeld
Zartbitter Coesfeld eV was founded in 1987 and caused a sensation in the early 1990s when he wrongly accused an educator from Coesfeld of child sexual abuse. Based on a children's story, which was interpreted by an association employee, the accusation of abuse of 55 children in hundreds of cases arose with the significant participation of Zartbitter Coesfeld eV . In particular, the suggestive questioning of the children and the partisan attitude of the association towards the alleged victims prevented an objective explanation of the events for a long time. It was only in the so-called Montessori trial that an expert dispute revealed the connection between suggestive questions, general fear of sexual abuse and the accusation of innocent people. Zartbitter Köln eV clearly distanced itself from the unprofessional working methods of the association in Coesfeld and emphasized that there was no substantive cooperation between the two associations. The Zartbitter Coesfeld association dissolved in 2008.
Lauterbach
In Lauterbach from 2001 to 2004 there was a "Dark Chocolate - Association against Sexual Violence eV". At the beginning of 2007 a CARITAS advice center with a comparable profile started work there.
