The middle school in Zasa

history

In 1559 the estate was first mentioned in a document as "Weesen". From 1644 the property belonged to the von Sass family , from whose name the Latvian name Zasa is derived. The manor house was burned down during the 1905 Revolution .

Since 1938 Zasa was the seat of a municipal administration. The Zasa municipality is now part of the Jēkabpils district ( Jēkabpils novads ).

A middle school (Latvian: vidusskola ) was built in 1939 not far from the site of the burned down manor house . It is considered an important example of Latvian architecture in the “ First Independence ” era .
