Zbigniew Oleśnicki (Archbishop)
Zbigniew Oleśnicki (* 1430 ; † February 2, 1493 in Łowicz ) was a Polish statesman , the Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland .
Life
The nephew of Zbigniew Oleśnicki (1389-1455) and son of Marshal Jan Oleśnicki and his wife Anna (nee Krzyżanowska). His siblings were Jan Oleśnicki, Andrzej Oleśnicki and Anna Tarnowska. He was from 1472 deputy chancellor at the royal court was appointed bishop of Kujawien in 1473 , was from 1481 Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland.
From June 7, 1492 to September 23, 1492 he was chairman of the royal council.
He was buried in the Gnesen Cathedral . Veit Stoss designed his epitaph with red marble.
