Live and act

Zbigniew Senkowski began studying at a mining school at the age of 17 and then worked in the Thorez hard coal mine, named after Maurice Thorez , in Wałbrzych. In 1980 he joined the Solidarność union . On August 27, 1980 the miners went on strike , which lasted until the introduction of martial law in Poland and was broken up on the night of December 16-17, 1981. Senkowski was arrested and later transferred to the Breslau prison. The public prosecutor's office demanded eight years' imprisonment for Senkowski, and the court sentenced him to three years in prison. In the end, however, he was released four months after the Supreme Court suspended execution of the sentence. In July 1982 he returned to the Thorez mine, but initially did not participate in any other union activities. After reducing his repression, he became head of Solidarność in Wałbrzych in 1988 and was deputy chairman of Solidarność in Lower Silesia in the 1990s.

In the 1997 parliamentary elections , Senkowski successfully stood for a mandate in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on the list of the Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność electoral alliance in constituency No. 48 . During the III. He belonged to the Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność parliamentary group and was a member of the Committee on Social Policy, the Committee on Local Self-Government and Regional Policy and the Committee on Spatial, Building and Housing Policy. In the general election in 2001 he was not re-elected. In 2010, Senkowski stood in the local government elections for a seat on the Wałbrzych City Council on the list of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość , but this time again missed the entry.

In 2007, together with Radosław Mechliński, he published a book about the history of Solidarność in the Wałbrzych district.
