Zbigniew Warpechowski

Zbigniew Warpechowski (born October 10, 1938 in Volhynia ) is a Polish performance , conceptual artist and set designer .

life and work

Warpechowski studied from 1956 to 1963 at the Technical University of Cracow and from 1964 to 1965 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow . In 1985 Warpechowski co-founded Black Market International , a performance artist group .

Paintings have been created since 1962 and poetry since 1964, which then evolved into performance around 1967. Zbigniew Warpechowski showed around 260 performances in 26 countries and was a participant in documenta 8 . “Being and Doing” (1984), with Stuart Brisley , was shown in 2014 at Galeria Zachęta . His performances were also shown in the Ujazdowski Castle and in the Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie . Paintings by Zbigniew Warpechowski are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw , Muzeum Sztuki w Łodzi , Muzeum Okręgowe im. Leona Wyczółkowskiego w Bydgoszczy, Regional Museum - Koszalin.

Zbigniew Warpechowski is the production designer for the films Ghosts by Wojciech Marczewski (1979), Golem by Piotr Szulkin (1980) and many more.
