Zdeněk Pluhař

Zdeněk Pluhař (born May 16, 1913 in Brno , Austria-Hungary , † June 18, 1991 ) was a Czech writer and representative of socialist realism .

Life

After studying in Brno, he took the position of civil engineer in 1937. During the Second World War he was imprisoned for participating in the resistance movement, first in Brno, later in Theresienstadt and finally in the Pankrác prison . After the war he resumed his work as a site manager. Since 1956 he devoted himself only to writing. In 1982 Pluhař was named a National Artist ( Národní umělec ).
