A total of three small mines are known in North Rhine-Westphalia under the name Zeche Christa . These three mines were operated, partly at the same time, in the Vormholz district of Witten . They were the small mines Christa I, Christa II and Christa III. The highest funding was provided by the Christa II colliery in 1960. The mines resulted from a renaming of the Zeche Flöz Finefrau.

history

The beginning as a seam fine woman

The owner of this small mine was Erich Benken, the mine was located south of Berghauser Strasse in the Maximus mine field . On March 1, 1949, the mine was put into operation. In 1950 the colliery was out of operation from March to November; during the rest of the time, 199 tons of hard coal were mined with five miners . In 1951 14 miners were employed in the mine, 1013 tons of hard coal were extracted. In 1955, Willi Decker took over management of the mine. In 1955, eight miners extracted 1,099 tons of hard coal. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine come from 1956, with eight miners the maximum production of the mine was achieved, it was 2847 tons of hard coal. In the following year the name was changed to Zeche Christa.

The following years as Christa

The owner of the three small mines with the name Christa (I-III) was initially Erich Benken, and a little later the company Willi Decker & Co. The dismantling took place in the Muttental near the Oberste-Berghaus. Hard coal was mined in the Geitling seam to a depth of 20 meters, the former safety zone. The small mines Christa moved in a westerly direction, following the course of the seam. The pit water was drained through the St. Johannes Erbstollen . The daytime facilities and the shafts followed the mining progress . It can be assumed that the miners worked as required on the collieries, some of which were operated at the same time.

Christa I

The Christa I mine was in operation from 1957. In the first year, seven miners extracted 665 tons of hard coal. In 1959, together with six miners, 2534 tons of hard coal were extracted from the Christa I and Christa II collieries. In 1960 the Christa I colliery was closed.

Christa II

The Christa II colliery was also in operation from 1957 and was located on Berghauser Strasse. In the year it was put into operation, 1182 tons of hard coal were extracted. In 1960 five miners extracted 2352 tons of hard coal. The maximum production was achieved in 1964, with eight miners 3,402 tons of hard coal were extracted. The Christa II colliery was closed on April 30, 1965.

Christa III

Very little is reported about the Christa III colliery; it was in operation from 1958 and was shut down on June 25, 1965.
