history

The time as Elias Erbstolln

On January 18, 1787, the tunnel was granted hereditary rights . In 1819 the mine was demonstrably in operation. On June 23, a length field was awarded , plus the authorized Neueburg and Blumendelle. In August 1831 the old tunnel was renamed Oberstollen and put back into operation. The excavation of the tunnel was started, the tunnel mouth hole was located in the Ruhr valley about 700 meters east ( 51 ° 24 ′ 30.2 ″  N , 7 ° 15 ′ 31.1 ″  E ) of Haus Kemnade. A coal towing line to the coal defeat on the Ruhr was built.

In 1838 only the alignment of the other mine field took place . Funding was resumed the following year . In 1845 only the tunnel was aligned again. In 1847 dismantling was carried out and the following year on May 12th the rights of ownership were converted. The authorized one was renamed to Zeche Vereinigte Elias Erbstollen.

The following years as the United Elias Erbstollen

The mine, which was founded on May 12, 1848 after the renaming of the rights holder, was also known as the United Elias mine. In addition to the existing Blumendelle, Neueburg and Elias Erbstolln pit fields, the Elias I and Elias II fields were also awarded. The mine was until August 1849 in operation, then it was over 11 years in terms received. The mine went back into operation at the beginning of the 1860s and was shut down again before 1895.

In 1908, the Industry Union signed a contract to mine a seam. The dismantling took place in the quarry of the industrial union, and underground mining was also carried out. On June 1, 1909, underground mining was shut down, but coal mining continued to be insignificant in the quarry. This coal mining was also stopped later. In 1912 it was consolidated into the Herbeder coal mine . In 1922 a tunnel was reopened, but no mining was carried out. The final shutdown took place on October 1, 1923.

Promotion and workforce

The first production figures from the Elias Erbstolln colliery date back to 1835; 2,742 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1840 3,297 ¾ Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. In the following year, production increased to 12,493 ¼ Prussian tons of hard coal. The first workforce dates from 1845, when four miners were employed at the mine.

The first production figures after the renaming to Zeche Vereinigte Elias Erbstollen come from the year 1860, an average of 3,000 to 5,000 tons of hard coal were mined. The last known workforce and production figures for the mine are from 1908, in that year four miners were employed at the mine who produced 973 tons of hard coal.
