The Gottsegnedich colliery is a former hard coal mine in the Vormholz- Steinhausen district of Witten . The mine was located in the Vormholz municipal forest east of today's Durchholzer Straße at the level of the Zum Wiesengrund road .

Mining history

Not much is reported about the mine. On March 17, 1780, a request was made to the mining authority . The pit field was measured in 1785 . A tunnel was excavated from the upper reaches of the Muttenbach in a south-westerly direction. In addition, several shafts have been created over the years . These were the shafts August, Diedrich, Flora, Gotthelf, Hope, July, Lazarus, Peter, Samuel and Victor. In 1787 a perforated stone was set. The mine was presumably out of service for a long time afterwards, because it was put back into operation in June of 1797. That same year, the shaft 6 was promoting .

In 1805 Schacht Diedrich was in production. In 1810 the August, Peter and Samuel pits were in operation, in 1815 the Lazarus and Gotthelf pits, in 1820 the Hope and Gotthelf pits and in 1825 the Gottfried pit was in operation. In 1828 a length field with four seams was awarded , the mine was still in operation. The Flora and Julie pits were in operation in 1830, and in that year 1,062 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1834 the Flora and Victor pits were in operation. On November 20, 1835 , the Gottsegnedich colliery consolidated into the United Neugottsegnedich colliery .
