The Hope Valley colliery was a coal mine in Hattingen - Bredenscheid .

Mining history

The awarding of the mining area took place in 1851. In 1853, one was cleats created. However, little coal was mined in the first two decades after the award . In 1889 the mine went from tunnel to underground construction . In 1890 an annual output of around 4,600 tons was achieved with 40 employees . In 1893 two shafts were already in operation; In 1895 the production reached over 15,000 tons with 86 employees. 1899 consolidated the union Hoffnungsthal with several mines (including mine Odin , mine Rabe and Zeche Johannes blessing ). In 1901 the Hope Valley 2 shaft went into operation. At the beginning of the 20th century the old tunnels were thrown out . In 1925 the mine was finally shut down. Most recently, the production amounted to around 50,000 tons.
