The Mercur mine is a former hard coal mine in Bochum -Rauendahl / Hattingen - Rauendahl . The mine was also known as the Zeche Merkur . The mine was several times during its 40-year history in deadlines set and then put back into operation.
Mining history
On May 25, 1839 and January 9, 1841, a square was awarded . In 1855 the mine was closed in time limits. In 1857 the mine was back in operation. From the fourth quarter of 1861, the mine was taken out of service and then auctioned . In the year 1865 the mine was mentioned in the documents of the mining authority , whether the mine was in operation cannot be seen in the documents. By 1873 the mine was again within deadlines. In 1873, 13 miners extracted 605 tons of hard coal . The following year, the Mercur colliery was again placed within deadlines. The mine was in operation again in 1875 and 1876, but the duration of operation is not known. In 1879, the Mercur colliery was again placed in time limits, after which further information about the mine is missing.
