The Morgenstern colliery to the west in the Vormholz -Hardenstein district of Witten is a former hard coal mine . The mine was in operation as a tunnel mine for over 20 years . The mine was in the Hardenstein area.

Mining history

In 1800 the mine was already in operation. In 1803 was started by the colliery Morgenstern into the West, together with the mines Carthäuserloch , United Reiger , Morgenstern into East and Wesel Bank , the Association tunnel excavate . In 1804 the mine field of the colliery was measured . In the years 1805 to 1810, the mining took place via the Julianenstollen. In 1815 the mine dismantled together with the Carthäuserloch colliery. For this reason, the jointly operating colliery was called Vereinigte Carthäuserloch & Morgenstern . In 1816, a tow path to the coal defeat on the Ruhr was created; the path was 40 Lachtern long . There is evidence that the mine was still in operation in 1820. In February 1823 the Morgenstern colliery to the west was shut down. In 1837 the mine was put back into operation. That year, 1136 bushels of hard coal were mined. In 1839 , the mine consolidated under the tunnel floor with other mines to form the United Morgenstern & kurzeggerbänker civil engineering . That year, 20,239 Prussian tons of hard coal were mined. Towards the end of the same year, the Morgenstern colliery to the west above the bottom of the tunnel was shut down. Shortly thereafter, the rightful owner was taken over by the United Morgenstern civil engineering mine .
