The Sutansbank colliery is a former hard coal mine in Essen-Heisingen . On the field of the mine in 1770 has been the year mining operation. The Sutansbank colliery was one of the founding members of the Association for Mining Interests .

Mining history

On August 12 of 1791 the concession was for the coal mining by the Abbot of becoming awarded . In 1793 it was merged with the Werthsbank colliery to form Sutansbank & Werthsbank. On March 28, 1799, a new license for the Werthsbank was awarded. The award was made for the mining in the Kreftenscheer seam, after which this part was renamed the Abgunst colliery . In 1803 the Sutansbank & Werthsbank colliery was separated again and then taken out of service. In 1819 and 1820 prospecting was carried out. On November 3, 1852, a length field was awarded. In 1856 were targeting work carried out, it became a main tunnel to the northeast ascended . In the following year, work began on sinking a seigeren shaft . In addition, the main tunnel was driven further. In 1858 a seam was penetrated with the shaft at a depth of 30¼ Lachtern . Then the sinking work was postponed . Location 1 was set, and the main tunnel was further excavated. This year 13 miners were employed at the mine. From the 4th quarter of 1859 the mine was taken out of service. From 1896 the Sutansbank colliery belonged to the Rheinische Anthracit coal works.
