Zeinab Badawi
Zeinab Badawi (born November 24, 1959 in Sudan ) is a British radio reporter and news presenter of Sudanese origin. She was the first host of ITV Morning News (now ITV News at 5:30) and co-hosted Channel 4 News with Jon Snow from 1989 to 1998 before joining the BBC News team . Badawi is currently presenting World News Today on BBC Four and BBC World News .
Life
education
Badawi was born in Sudan and came to England at the age of three. She attended Hornsey High School for Girls in North London and then went to St Hilda's College at Oxford University , where she studied politics, philosophy and economics. After completing her studies, she obtained an additional diploma on the Middle East at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London , which was awarded a distinction. In Oxford, Badawi was a member of the Oxford University Broadcasting Society.
Career
Badawi was a researcher and news journalist for Yorkshire TV from 1982 to 1986 . After a detour to BBC Manchester, she joined Channel 4 News in 1988 , where she co-hosted the shows from 1989 until she joined the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 1998 .
In the BBC Badawi spent five years with political coverage from Westminster entrusted, and she also worked for the BBC radio, where she regularly The World Tonight on Radio 4 and Newshour of the BBC World Service moderated. In 2005 Badawi became the new host of The World on BBC Four , the UK's first daily news program devoted entirely to international events. In May 2007 the program was renamed World News Today and has since been shown on the BBC World News .
In November 2009 Badawi was named "International TV Personality of the Year" by the Association for International Broadcasting .
Since 2010 Badawi has moderated not only on BBC World News, but also on the BBC News Channel and its main news program BBC News at Five .
Public positions
Badawi was an advisor to the Foreign Policy Center and a council member of the Overseas Development Institute . She has been on the Board of Directors of the National Portrait Gallery since 2004 and is a member of the British Council .
Private life
Badawi has four children.
