The journal for crystallography - Crystalline Materials (abbreviated Z. Kristallogr. - Cryst. Mater. ) Is a crystallographic journal . It was founded in 1877 by Paul Heinrich von Groth . It first appeared until 1920/1925 under the title Zeitschrift für Kristallographie und Mineralogie , then until 1977 as a magazine for crystallography, crystal geometry, crystal physics, crystal chemistry in German, and since 1978 as a magazine for crystallography in English.

From 1913 to 1939 seven supplementary volumes were published with the title structure report , edited by Paul Peter Ewald and Carl Hermann , in which newly determined crystal structures were published. This series was continued from 1947 as Structure Reports in the Acta Crystallographica .

In 1997 Zeitschrift für Kristallographie - New Crystal Structures was founded as an open access journal and a spin-off from Zeitschrift für Kristallographie. In 2010, the name of the Zeitschrift für Kristallographie was changed to Zeitschrift für Kristallographie - Crystalline Materials to make it easier to distinguish .

In 2012, the journal for crystallography had an impact factor of 1.241. The journal was thus ranked 14th out of 23 journals in the statistics of the Science Citation Index in the “Crystallography” category.
