Zelos
Zelos ( Greek Ζῆλος "zeal") is in Greek mythology the personification of eager striving.
Zelos is the son of the titan Pallas and the Styx . His siblings are Kratos ("power"), Bia ("violence") and Nike ("victory"). They are constant companions of Zeus, who granted them this position of honor as thanks for their help in the fight against the titans ( titanomachy ).
In Hyginus Mythographus he is listed as the personification of envy . The same applies to Hesiod in Works and Days , where he appears as a companion to the people of the last, the iron age. In a similarly negative context, it appears in an Orphic fragment together with Apate (“deception”), where they lift the newborn Aphrodite out of the waves.
In later times it was equated with the zelotypia , jealousy.
